GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS 2008
All entrants enter and participate in the Australian Screen Tests according to these General Rules & Regulations. Entrants must also read the rules and guidelines specific to the sections in which they enter.Entrants perform at their own risk. Entrants agree they are in good health and physically able to participate in the event.
The Australian Screen Tests is open to everyone, subject to the stipulated individual event conditions.
Entrants with special needs must notify AIPA of these on entry so that they may be taken into consideration when timetabling and ensured that adequate assistance is available.
Responsibility for correct entry rests with the entrant.
Professional Screen Actor section is only open to applicants with proven professional credit as determined by one of AST’s casting directors.
AIPA reserves the right to amend or refuse any entry, to disqualify or deny participation, or to amend, cancel or combine an event.
Time limits are strictly enforced and entrants who exceed the maximum time limit will be disqualified.
Time is determined from the first action or word spoken to the last action or word spoken. The Time-Keeper’s decision is final.
Entrants must be present at the venue and register with the Section Manager for roll call at least 15 minutes before the advertised start time of the section.
No registration will be accepted once the section has commenced.
A person is permitted to enter each section only ONCE.
Entries are not transferable from one person to another.
All entrants will be given an entrant number. Entrants must appear in strict numerical order. In an extreme case, the Section Manager may waive this rule at his or her discretion.
No teacher, agent, guardian or parent will be allowed on stage, backstage or in the wings at any time.
If any entrant appears distressed or wishes to withdraw once backstage, he or she will not be forced to perform. The performers’ welfare is our prime concern and this will take priority over parents’ wishes.
Prompting is not permitted. Actors who forget their lines will need to leave the stage/studio. An exception will be made for performers in the Junior Actor section who may be prompted by our backstage staff.
Communication with any of our judges is strictly prohibited. If it is established that an entrant, or person associated with an entrant, has made personal contact with any of the judges before or during a section, that entrant will be disqualified.
Substitute judges may be used in place of previously announced judges.
Any event may be divided for programme purposes and any event starting time may be altered at any time if necessary.
All sessions are open to the public and admission charges apply. Daily passes may be purchased at registration or on the day of competition.
Any person who is known to be prohibited from gatherings of minors will be reported immediately to the NSW police and removed from the venue.
The use of tape recorders, video cameras, cameras, camera phones or any other recording equipment is strictly prohibited. All events will be professionally taped and photographed. No exceptions will be made.
Mobile phones, pagers, ipods, MP3 players, video games etc. must be switched off in the performance venues.
AIPA will not be liable for personal items that are lost or stolen. Valuables should not be brought into any of the event venues.
AIPA will not be liable for any copyright infringement an entrant may commit. Entrants must be responsible for securing the rights to any own-choice work they perform.
A high standard of decorum is expected from all participants and supporters. Behaviour contrary to the spirit of the event will result in the offender being disqualified and either being asked to leave or escorted from the venue by security.
Bullying in any form will not be tolerated. Any offender will be disqualified from the event and may be banned for the next five years.
Anyone found responsible for defacing or damaging equipment, any part of the venue or surrounding areas will be disqualified. AIPA will take steps to recover from the offender any costs to repair or replace goods. Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
The directions of The Australian Screen Tests staff and volunteers must be followed at all times.
AIPA reserves the right to record, film, broadcast, telecast, tape or photograph any entrant, item or event during the screen tests without notification and use these images, sound bytes or footage at its discretion for publicity or promotional purposes. No remuneration or compensation whatsoever shall be attributable to any participants so featured.
AIPA, at its sole discretion, may promote or publicise the ‘success story’ or ‘journey’ of any entrant.
Personal details provided by the entrant on the entry form will not be shared, sold or used for any other purpose other than those needed to enter the competition.
Failure to comply with any of these rules and conditions may cause disqualification and a five-year ban.
The decision of AIPA in all questions or disputes arising out of or not provided for by these rules and regulations will be final.
All entries are received according to this condition and in the spirit of friendly competition upon which the Australian Screen Tests are based.
No dispute shall become the subject of any appeal at law.
