JUNIOR ACTOR

Junior Actor section is for dynamic young performers with an interest in the Film & Television Industry. Actors must be able to memorize lines and take direction.

Part One: TVC Natural
Entrants choose a TV commercial from 40 pieces on the official AST website. The choice is to be presented in their natural voice. No costumes or props are allowed. This section is in studio via live feed.

Part Two: Sitcom or Soap Opera
Entrants choose EITHER a soap opera or sitcom script from selections on the official AST website. The scripts will be performed with a reader. This section is in studio via live feed.

Part Three: Commercial Print

Whilst the entrant is coming out of the studio, the judges will view two previously submitted photos (one headshot and one full-length body shot) on the projection screen to show the entrant as a commercial print artist.

Part Four: TVC Direction

A casting director will direct the entrants on their previously performed TV commercial. No costumes or props are allowed.

Scoring

The highest scoring entrants, over all sections, will perform in the Top 100 on Sunday 28 September 2008. Judges will also decide whether they would like to offer a call back. Call backs will take place after the Top 100.

Entrants must be between the ages of three and seven by 24 September 2008.

 

COMMERCIAL ACTOR

Commercial Actor section is open to actors who wish to further their career in the TV Commercial Industry. The emphasis is on the ability to promote a product, service or cause.

Part One: TVC Natural
Entrants choose a TV commercial from forty pieces on the official AST website. This piece is to be presented in their natural voice. No costumes or props are allowed. This section is in studio via live feed.

SCREEN ACTOR

Screen Actor section will enable actors to showcase their comedic and/or dramatic talents and ability to take direction.

Entrants must be aged eight and over by 24 September 2008.

Part One: Monologue
Entrants select a monologue (maximum 60 seconds) and perform to camera. The choice can be presented in natural voice or with an accent. No costumes or props are allowed. This section is in studio via live feed.

PRESENTER

Presenting is a specialised field that ranges from TV journalism to variety shows to everything in between. Presenter section will highlight the individual’s unique style.

Entrants must be aged 16 and over by 24 September 2008.

Part One: Presenting Style
Entrants write a lifestyle, weather, sports, news, travel or kids show piece (maximum 90 seconds) and present it to camera. This can be presented in their natural voice or with an accent. No costumes or props are allowed. This section is in studio via live feed.

Part Two: Cold Read/Auto Cue
Entrants will stand in front of an auto cue machine and read the provided script. This section is in studio via live feed.

PROFESSIONAL SCREEN ACTOR

This is a highly selective section for industry Professional Screen Actors only. Entrants will showcase their talent in front of a panel of international casting professionals.

Applicants must have recognized professional industry credits. This will be verified by an AST-appointed casting professional. Their decision will be final and no discussion will be entered into.

All applicants must e-mail a CV, headshot, and representation details to ast@aipa.com.au prior to entry.

If selected, actors will be given an individual official entry code to be submitted on the official online entry form.

All Professional Screen Actors will screen test in a closed session that is not open to a general audience.

At the conclusion of the section, entrants will be invited to network at a reception with AST staff, casting directors, and other industry professionals.
